gluten free snack

Finding gluten free snacks at gas station.

Have you ever had that mom moment of forgetting to pack snacks for a road ๐Ÿš™ trip!? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

No need to fear! There are many gluten free and healthy snack options to find @ local gas โ›ฝ๏ธ stations.

On a road trip drive down to San Antonio to visit Sea ๐ŸŒŠ World, the Alamo, and stay at the Hyatt Hill Country, we chose to stop ๐Ÿ›‘ at Stripes Gas Station, because I was that mom that forgot the healthy snacks at home ๐Ÿก!

Being a gluten free mom ๐Ÿ‘ฉ for the last 9 years, I knew Stripes would have options.

What are the options our family chose from? ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿ‘‡

โœ”๏ธ Fruit cups are naturally gluten and dairy free ๐ŸŽ. Ideally, look for the fruit cups with no added sugar that say in โ€œfruit juiceโ€ to avoid artificial sugars. ๐Ÿ’œ

โœ”๏ธ String cheese ๐Ÿง€ is naturally GF free. We โค๏ธ the ones wrapped in prosciutto or pepperoni ๐Ÿ•. We choose the ones that say โ€œnitrateโ€ free and โ€œuncuredโ€.

โœ”๏ธ Coconut ๐Ÿฅฅ Water ๐Ÿ’ฆ is a way to hydrate the body using naturally occurring electrolytes. Top favorite!

โœ”๏ธ KIND bars are delicious ๐Ÿ˜‹, high in protein, fiber, vegan ๐ŸŒฑ and more!

โœ”๏ธ Beef sticks: Lots of brands and options here. Look ๐Ÿ‘€ on the packing for it to say GF and no MSG. At least we do in our family ๐Ÿฅฐ

โœ”๏ธ Nuts ๐Ÿฅœ: Raw almonds, pistachios, cashews and more are GF + DF and full of protein.

The picture are the personal favorites that I chose as snacks for myself. - Dr Michelle Parker, Diplomate in Chiropractic Pediatrics by ICPA, International Board Lacation Consultant, Fellow in Childhood Neurodevelopmental Disorders by IBFN.

Ever have to make a pit stop and snagged some snacks for yourself? What are some of your favorites?

Cowboy football game day trail mix

Adjustments.jpeg

Our son, Jarrett, wanted to make a snack for game day to watch the Cowboys with his dad and brother. We had some gluten free Chex cereal that had a recipe on the back and Jarrett was inspired. It needed to be a little tweaked to meet the profile for our family, but were able to do so very easily!

This recipe does contain peanuts and almonds, but if your family doesnโ€™t like almonds, then go for pistachios or another tree nut that is a fav. Peanut free? Then sunflower seeds would be really yummy. Regular chocolate chips would be an ok replacement as well, but for our family, we try to minimize dairy and avoid gluten. Try making this recipe with your little ones soon and let us know how it goes! It was a low-mess time in the kitchen with a big taste and satisfaction reward. Jarrett says it is, โ€œmom and kid-approved for football game dayโ€. :)
