REASONS WHY TO BREASTFEED.

We know breastfeeding may not work for every family, but a lot of our expecting mothers have asked for us to sum up the biggest health reasons why we chose to breastfeed our children as long as we could.

That short and sweet summary is:

-Disease prevention

-Enhances immune function

-Reduces: ear infections, respiratory illnesses, asthma, chronic digestive diseases, risk for obesity, type 1 and type 2 diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, high blood cholesterol, and childhood leukemia (Victoria et al, 2016).

TOP 2 STRETCHES FOR NEW MOMS FOR NECK PAIN.

It is easy for women to hold stress in their neck and shoulders. These 2 stretches are our top 2 favorites for neck pain.

1.       Levator Scap Stretch:

Stand or sit with leg shoulder-width apart, spine straight, and arms to your side. Place your left arm behind your low back. Look as far to the right as you can and then look down towards your right foot. Hold for 30 seconds and then switch sides. Repeat 3-4x a day.

2.       Chest Stretch:

Using the door frame or corner of the room, bring your hands at shoulder-height and bend your elbows. Lean in gently until you feel the stretch across the front of your chest. Hold for 30 seconds and then switch sides. Repeat 3-4x a day.

BRAIN ACTIVITY FOR BABY

Have you ever watched a pregnant mother sway back and forth while standing or sitting? That rhythmic movement is something baby is used to + has optimal development advantages to it. Rhythmic movement can be soothing for mom and baby to do together even outside of the womb.

Materials needed:

Parent + Baby

What to do?

Hold baby & sway or dance side to side while supporting newborn’s head for a few minutes throughout the day.

Why?

Rhythmic movements are a baby massage + stimulation to their inner ear (vestibular system).

Balanced brains = balanced bodies.
