When there is flatness along both sides of the back of the head, this is most commonly known as brachycephaly.
Top 3 Recommendations Are:
1. Limit baby gear: To help fix this, you want to decrease the baby's time spent with pressure on the back of the head. This is where our rule of being in a baby device (such as bouncer, swing, car seat, etc.) should ideally be less than 2 hours total a day, when possible. This is because those types of devices have a hardened plastic backing that can contribute to the baby's head flattening even faster.
2. Spend more time being held or in tummy time to take away constant pressure on the back of the head.
3. Use toys to our advantage: Strategically place toys to either side of the body so that baby wants to spend more time on the side of head, than on the area that is flattening.
