PREGNANCY AND BABY POSITION.

Why are midwives and OBGYNs recommending Webster Technique and prenatal massage if a pregnant mom and baby is in a position considered malpositioned?

Breech

Malposition

Asynclitic

Transverse

Posterior

There is a big misconception that a prenatal Doctor of Chiropractic that is trained in Webster Technique is going to "turn" the baby. That is not the goal of a prenatal chiropractic adjustment or massage. Instead, the balancing of mom's pelvis musculature and bones can also lead to a balancing of the ligaments that attach to the uterus = restoring normal biomechanical function of expecting mom's function.

If we are finding that a mother is not holding her adjustment, we are big fans of collaborating with our local pelvic floor physical therapists. Their goal is similar. Balance out the pelvic floor musculature = better function of the pelvis/hips.

Prenatal Chiropractic + Massage in pregnancy can be vital to the normal physiological function of both mom and baby throughout pregnancy and birth. All of our female Doctors of Chiropractic are trained in Webster Technique.
