Moro Startle Reflex is a primitive reflex that should integrate by 2-4 months of age.
The topic of "startle reflexes" is actually deeper than you would expect. If you have ever noticed a loud sound that makes your baby's arms flare out, the Fear Paralysis Reflex is actually the one that is stimulated by sound, touch, and light.
Moro Reflex is more of their vestibular motion and gets stimulated when the body feels like it is falling. This is why we can see the Moro show itself when we go to lay down our baby to change their diaper, but then act scared when they hear a loud noise from the Fear Paralysis.
The Moro Reflex was designed in the body to turn off the Fear Paralysis and then higher development of the Vagus Nerve helps keep the Moro Reflex in check.
Both of these primitive reflexes should go away by 2-4 months. If you are still noticing signs of these reflexes being retained, then bring it up to your pediatric chiropractor so we can help.
