Notice your newborn or baby having a consistent head tilt to one side? πΆ Sure it is cute, but it is also a potential sign of chronic muscle tightness or muscle weakness.
βοΈ of our favorite and easy stretches to do is the side lying neck stretch. To make it simple to understand, we are going to give the instructions for when a child is leaning their neck to their left side (left ear is closer to their left shoulder when compared to the right).
SIDE LYING STRETCH FOR BABY:
1. Parent stand with good posture, shoulders back. π©
2. Hold baby on their left side. π§
3. Take your left arm and place it along the left side of their neck and then grab their hip/pelvis for stabilization. π
4. Gently bring your shoulders back and slightly lift your left elbow to help stretch the left side of the baby's neck. π
5. Hold for 5 minutes while walking around with baby. Repeat 2-3x a day.
